A Mini Vacation – Anything’s possible when you ask, especially at the Westin Mission Hills!

So Gabe’s school was starting a week later than most. Camps were done. I didn’t want him to have the Wii championships of the world for 5 days straight while I worked.
So I asked, What’s possible here? Shortly after I got the idea to go away to a resort, that would do two things… 1. Have a kids club for him 2. Time to work and go to the spa for me… OK three things… and things we can do together to create amazing memories that last a life time, at a fair price… and a location that was beautiful!!!!!!
I also didn’t want to drive far from Pasadena so I chose to book a mid-week stay at the Westin Mission Hills. To me the cooler nights, pool by day, clean air, amazing shops and glorious architecture against those stunning mountains and palm trees… it’s gorgeous to me.
We had a gorgeous suite so I worked at ease at a gorgeous dining room table. I swear Gabe ran and jumped on the bed with his bear almost 20 times into the Heavenly Bed pillows… in total bliss. While the main restaurant was under construction (can’t wait to experience it this Fall) the Fireside Lounge was perfect for our low key adventure.
My son is a Pisces and he adored the pools, the water slides and he’d have to plead… but I’m so glad he did… for each night we’d head out (after his bed time!!) and swim under the stars and have the whole pool to ourselves! We’d waddle back in our sumptuous robes and crash, saying our Thank You’s for the stars, the hotel, and our time together.
I was able to feel at peace that Gabe was enjoying swimming, crafts, decorating cookies and playing in the Games Room with the Kids Club staff while I was able to write, welcome a new coaching client, speak to current clients, host my radio show and my Men’s Group coaching call AND have a glorious massage and morning at the spa.
I swear the golf cart driver must be telepathic for one always seemed to arrive as we sauntered along the golf course to dinner, to a pool or an adventure to the other side of the property.
I forgot that even 9 yrs. olds like to cuddle in the morning. He must have said Thank you for this vacation over 3 times a day, hugging me spontaneously, grateful to get away, have mom all to himself, make friends with the Kids Club staff and soar down the water slides to his heart’s content. Even our drive there and back was just under 2 hours traveling mid-day- easy peezy lemon squeezy.
So many times we KNOW we’re stressed and yet unless we CHOOSE to pattern interrupt and plan a getaway it just doesn’t happen.
Sometimes we know if we got away from the busy world we’ve created, we could really get our priorities straight again, create time to really connect with our kids and partner, AND replenish our bodies and soul…. And yet we don’t give ourselves permission to go, buying into excuses instead of creating what we want.
For me, closeness with my son, being the most patient playful present mom I can be, taking care of my wellbeing, listening to my heart, nourishing my dreams… these are my priorities.
I invite you to find 3 days in your calendar… even mid-week… book a stay at www.westinmissionhills.com(remind your hubby of the golf course if that will help sway him!) and rejuvenate your family’s connection, your confidence, your marriage… we only get one chance at this life… make it count.
Deliciously yours, Allana
p.s. I also wanted to say that I love being a woman and fashion makes me feel even more confident. I loved wearing my new www.SingleDress.comMaxi dresses around the resort, sexy, comfy and flattering AND this gorgeous bracelet from www.SafiaDay.comwhich I got numerous comments on. Walk taller, feel your worth, shine your radiance.>
