“I’m a poor student.” STOP the excuses & START getting creative!
Many times in life we unknowingly take on an identity that limits us. Single Mom. Cancer Survivor. Sober. Starving Artist. Poor Student.
Now I’m not saying these roles don’t have their challenges… and yet does reading that list make you feel alive and light or heavy and contracted? Exactly!
So when I come from the energy of Single Mom… hell I used to add Single Motherless Mom… this total victim energy would hover over my being like a black rain cloud… literally blocking out the sunshine of possibility of creating anything other than struggle to keep that identity alive.
I’m a limitless being. I’m phenomenal and the creator of my life. I’m sexy cuz I say so. And I’m grateful to be alive.
Now how does THAT make you feel? Now when life presents challenges, this is a viewpoint I can choose to embrace it from… way different reality.
So let’s look at students… and before I begin, I am in huge question with my son’s future for I don’t believe setting him up for life with debt of at least $100,000 from university is the highest choice for his success… and yet let’s look at the “poor student” identity.
Yes, it’s heavy and there’s lack and going without and poor me energy there. And yet if we destroy that judgment and look from another place what else is possible? If you want to see a play or take a class or enjoy a vacation, what if you asked what could I add to my life to allow myself to have that? Open to a new reality instead of giving up before you even try?
Being a backpacker was one of the most adventurous times of my life, road trips, crazy boat rides, hostel adventures, creative cooking, making our own music, creating our own nights of theatre and poetry, teaching each other our skills for a class.
Have a look in your life if you have unknowingly bought into an identity that no longer serves you. If you choose something different, let it go and get into the question of what else is possible that would be delicious, fun, playful, fulfilling and nourishing for you. Can’t wait to hear what you discover.
