Dealing with Grief – the Aurora, CO "Dark Knight Rises Shooting"
Life isn’t about what happens; it’s about how we RESPOND
As a Relationship Coach who lost my mom the week before my son was born, you never know when tragedy will happen.
I send my prayers and condolences to all involved in the horrifying shootings in Aurora, CO, and share these steps of support:
First, allow all your emotions to be expressed in a healthy manner, suppress nothing. Let it flow.
Second, get support from a professional coach or therapist specializing in grief or trauma to feel heard and not fixed.
Third, inquire into what message this event has in your life, to live more fully? Speak your truth? Live your dream? Be a stand for change? Forgive?
Then just do it. Yes, you may not be in the mood, it may be hard, you may cry for weeks. That’s normal.
Just keep moving and give YOUR gift that you still have to give, to your family, to humanity.
And you may find you do so with more humility, gratitude and even fire for your passion knowing you got a second chance.>
