Three Years and Still Waiting

Q: A question from my beautiful friends at Digital Romance: Allana, I’m running out of patience but I know I put myself in this situation.  Three years, THREE YEARS and he still hasn’t left his wife as he promised.  How much longer should I date him? How much longer should I let him dangle the carrot of a future before I just walk away.

A: My love – it was probably three seconds, three minutes, three days too long – let along three years.  Why would you even date someone married in the first place? No judgment, only kindness and curiousity.  It is a recipe for disaster. They are clearly not emotionally available. Have I seen this turn into a happy ending in my 17 years of coaching, yes – once or twice but it is VERY rare.
